Our Mission

To foster a system that embraces diversity, equity and inclusion as morally right and educationally sound, and that centers the wellbeing of individuals, communities and the environment.

Recent Initiatives

A new program developed by the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering's Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee will bring together members of the A. James Clark School of Engineering and local high school students along with their families early in the Fall semester.

Through this event, an approximate of 150 high school students and teachers will engage in workshops aimed at initiating or enhancing their interest in pursuing an engineering education at the University of Maryland. Attendees will participate in information sessions regarding research opportunities, admissions processes, student experience as well as learn about the role of engineering in community service.

Thinking about getting involved with our DEI Committee? Faculty, staff and students interested in joining should reach out to Assistant Director of Student Services Kathy Gardinier to learn how.
