CGA gets students out of the lab and involved in activities both on- and off-campus. Social events include potlucks, barbeques, dinners to welcome first-year graduate students, and participation in local events and activities. Funds used to subsidize these activities and events are raised selling concessions at our exciting Maryland Terrapins sporting events as well as other means.

Academic, career-building, and professional activities include attending the annual AIChE conference, hosting ResearchFest (an annual symposium), and operating a hands-on experiments table for kids on Maryland Day.

The goal of CGA is to build community, connections, and friendships among graduate students, while also establishing a line of communication between students and the faculty. We especially try to provide connections for those who find themselves working off-campus.

CGA members also gain access to the CGA student lounge in the Chemical/Nuclear Engineering Building. For additional information, please send an email to CGA.umd@gmail.com.
