Calabrese Expands AIChE Leadership Roles


Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering professor Richard V. Calabrese has been elected to the Chemical Technology Operating Council (CTOC) of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE). The CTOC directs AIChE’s research efforts at the frontiers of chemical engineering, and is broadly responsible for advancing and disseminating the profession's knowledge. It oversees the Institute's publications, meetings and industry technology alliances, as well as its divisions, forums, and select committees.

Calabrese has also been appointed to the board of the AIChE’s newly formed Center for Energy Initiatives (CEI), which seeks to unite energy professionals for the purpose of identifying, formulating, advocating, launching and implementing new projects that address the nation’s energy needs, as well as enabling the integrated analysis of multi-disciplinary and multi-functional energy projects. Calabrese has been active in the AIChE throughout his professional career, particularly within its North American Mixing Forum (NAMF). He is currently an Emeritus member of NAMF’s Executive Council, and has previously served as immediate Past President, President, Vice President, Treasurer and National Program Chair. He was elected an AIChE Fellow in 2000.
