Division of Chemical, Bioengineering, Environmental, and Transport Systems Engineering Directorate
National Science Foundation (NSF)
Achieving sustainable production of energy will be one of the grand challenges of the 21st century. The dual national needs of energy security and reduction of greenhouse gases, as described in recent reports by the National Science Board and the U.S. Department of Energy, as well as the PresidentÂ’s energy policy priorities, drive the response to this grand challenge. This presentation will highlight renewable energy research currently supported by the National Science Foundation (NSF), particularly in the areas of next generation solar photovoltaics, biofuels and bioenergy, and wind energy.
