Charles Richard

This seminar provides an overview of the patent system, with an emphasis on the US system, for people with science and/or engineering backgrounds. Topics covered include common misconceptions; basic terminology; sources of law and some history; types of patents, patentable subject matter and types of inventions; the three basic requirements for patentability; basics on patent applications; patent infringement; patent licensing; international issues; and useful websites and publications.
