Audaldo “Aldo” Ponce, a faculty member serving both the Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering and Materials Science and Engineering Departments at the University of Maryland (UMD), was promoted to senior lecturer this week.

“I would like to thank everyone for their support since I joined the Clark School - I am greatly humbled,” said Dr. Ponce.

Ponce - originally from Chile - received his Ph.D. in chemistry from Kansas State University in 2002. He joined the faculty at UMD in 2013, although he was research associate in the UMD Chemistry Department for several years prior.

Since then, his research interests have included materials science, inorganic chemistry, catalysis, surface science, life science and nano-chemistry. Ponce teaches various courses including ChBE 437, ENMA 312 and ENMA 362, and is always available to help faculty and students with their characterization needs.
